Open Judging (classes 7-13): July 24, 2013 at 4pm

People’s Choice Award (Classes 15-18)

July 25 – August 4, 2012 – Vote your favorite Bee My Honey photo.

August 4, 2012 – People‟s Choice Award winners will be announced and rosette placed.

Division Notes:

May enter up to two per class.

Honey must be the only source of sweetening.

Full cakes, piees, and bread loafs are required.

Baking entries (brownies, cookies, candy) are to be delivered on a disposable plate inside a locked or zipped plastic bag.

Bee/Honey Gift Items (class 12) must be in basket or toher container.  These entries should weigh no more than 10 lbs. with 70% of the products made by the contestnat.

Participants should provide three (3) 1 lb. jars for honey entries (classes 7-10).  Entries should be in glass honey jars: Queenline or Gamber classic jars are the standard.

Judging Guidelines – Baking (classes 1-5):

35 Points – Flavor

20 Points – Attractively displayed

20 Points – Texture (dry, moist, course or fine)

15 Points – Attractiveness of product (over cooked, under cooked, symmetry, etc.)

10 Points – Meeting the guide lines of fair (correct number or weight, correct amount of sweetening, wrapping), or display, (on correct type of plate)

Judging Guidelines – Candy (class 6):

30 Points – Flavor

25 Points – Texture

25 Points – Handling quality in serving

20 Points – Attractive appearance

Judging Guidelines – Honey (Extracted or Liquid, classes 7-9):

25 Points – Freedom from crystals and impurities including froth

20 Points – Color and clarity

20 Points – Flavor and aroma

20 Points – Density (not less than 11 lbs 12 oz per gallon)

5 Points – Appearance, suitability and uniformity of containers

10 Points – Uniform and accurate volume of honey

Judging Guidelines – Honey (granulated, class 10):

30 Points – Firmness and uniformity of set, absence of froth and impurities and general condition of honey

20 Points – Flavor and aroma

20 Points – Texture of granulation (smooth and fine)

15 Points – Color

10 Points – Appearance, suitability and uniformity of containers

5 Points – Uniformity and accurate volume of honey

Judging Guidelines – Honey in Extracting Frames (class 11):

25 Points – Quality of honey

25 Points – Cappings: whiteness, completeness, evenness, and freedom from stain

20 Points – Uniformity of color of honey throughout the combs

20 Points – Thickness of comb for ease of uncapping

10 Points – General appearance

30 Points – General appearance

30 Points – Quality of products

20 Points – Originality

20 Points – Variety of products

Judging Guidelines – Beeswax (class 13):

30 Points – Color; light yellow (such as undamaged by propolis and iron stain)

25 Points – Cleanliness (free from surface dirt, honey and impurities)

15 Points – Uniform appearance of all wax in entry

15 Points – Freedom from cracking, shrinkage and marks

15 Points – Aroma

30 Points – Content as related to beekeeping

30 Points – Photographic skill

20 Points – General appeal

20 Points – Correct matting, mounting, etc.
